I am the current Illinois Community College Journalism Association president. The association has 20+ member organizations from throughout the state. We engage in advocacy on behalf of student journalists and student news organizations. We also run training events, oversee contests for community college journalism students and host conferences to encourage socialization and networking for those students.
President (emeritus) of the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association. The organization advocates on behalf of news organizations in the northern half of the state. It also oversees contests for high school and professional journalists. During my tenure, we hosted training events about mass shootings, diversity efforts and awareness, and the importance of building trust with our readers.
